A delicious and simple Indian style flat bread, from our chef Neet. This recipe uses our freshly milled wholewheat flour.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup of water
Salt pinch (optional)
optional additions may include onion, spring onion, garlic, coriander, mixed Indian spices - whatever you have to hand.
METHOD
Mix all ingredients well with the hand.
Knead gently.
Rest the dough around 10-15 min in a bowl, room temperature, covering optional.
After resting, smoothly knead the dough again for 1 min.
Dough is now ready for roti( bread)
Warm a frypan to medium hot
Take a small spoonful portion, roll into a ball, dip in flour flatten into a small disc with your palm.
If adding flavours, fold into each roti and finish shaping.
Flour the bench, roll to 1/2 cm thick with rolling pin.
Add Ghee or butter in the pan (optional)
Fry for a minute or two each side until golden brown.
